I have always believed in natural remedies when it comes to strengthening my immune system. Strong immunity is a function of good health and immunity is only as strong as you are healthy. I love to focus on 3 important factors for overall good health: nutrition, sleep, and stress management.

Nutrition: The mixture recipe included in my free guide is filled with natural ingredients that have medicinal properties. It has been my favorite way to keep my immunity healthy and I like to prepare it at least once a week. I also try my best to eat a lot of whole foods that provide nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that can be beneficial for the immune system. This means incorporating more vegetables and fruit with our meals or snacks between meals. We hear it all the time, “eat more fruits and veggies, it’s good for you.” This is true. If you aren’t into the greens, sweet potatoes and purple Okinawan yams are great substitutes. Both are considered vegetables and they’re packed with nutrients. My children love them!

Sleep: The goal is to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep each night. This is important because during sleep our bodies are working to support the formation and function of our immune cells. Our immune system loves sleep! This has been a challenge for me because I am still currently breastfeeding my 6-month-old son through the night, so I’ve been trying to make sure to get into bed at least 30 minutes to an hour earlier.

Stress Management: This can be a tough one, especially with the kind of world we live in today where there is everyday pressures and more responsibilities, especially since becoming a mother. Finding ways that work for you to calm the nervous system while practicing new strategies to lessen stress can help increase overall health and improve immune system function. For me, it is movement and physical activity. Staying active through strength and resistance training helps me to keep stress levels down while giving me great energy to get through each day. I will be adding more about “strength training for women” so keep a look out for it in my journal. Although I haven’t been consistent with my workouts, my goal is to simply stay active whether that be a walk with my children, cleaning and organizing our home, or watering our garden.
