Tips To De-Clutter And Clean

Having a clean and organized space can have an impact on your overall health and happiness. ‘Spring cleaning’ can be done at any time of the year, between two seasons. TIP OF THE WEEK: clear out clutter in your living space to help clear your mind.

My #1 rule when it comes to de-cluttering my living space is to clear out the things my family and I haven’t used in 3+ months. Some of the random things in our home that take up space and things that are hardly used will be brought to the nearest Goodwill. My clothing that are still in good condition and clothing that I will never use again I list on my Poshmark.

Home organization sometimes takes time, especially if it isn’t done consistently, so I try to de-clutter things in our home every two weeks. If not every two weeks, at least every month. When you de-clutter and organize your home, I promise you will feel happier and less stressed. A clear, clean, and organized home = a clear mind.

To de-clutter means cleaning as well. They both go hand in hand. With three children in our home, I’m careful about the products that I use to clean. Home cleaning products are often filled with harsh corrosive chemicals, have strong, unpleasant odors, and are toxic for plants, animals, and people. It’s still possible to create effective cleaning solutions for your home. I will list a few of my cleaning solutions that I use. Some of the products will be linked to the exact ones that I purchase. Feel free to click the links for more details…

MIRRORS: I mix a 1:1 ratio of distilled white vinegar and water into a spray bottle. I spray the solution onto a microfiber cloth then wipe the mirrors.

SINKS: I add baking soda into the sink and scrub it with the solution that I use for the mirrors, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then rinse.

TOILETS: I mix a 1:1 solution of castile soap and baking soda with a few drops of water to form a paste, then scrub.

WOOD FLOORS: Add warm water with 1/2 teaspoon of castile soap to a bucket and use a microfiber mop.

STAINLESS STEEL: 1:1 ratio of distilled white vinegar and water with a little coconut oil.

MARBLE, GRANITE, QUARTZ: Fill a 24-32 oz bottle with water (leave room at the top), add 4-5 oz of rubbing alcohol, 6 drops of castile soap, and several drops of an essential oil (I love to use tea tree or peppermint essential oils).

I hope you will give some of these options a try in your home. You will love that cleaning can be effective and non-toxic at the same time.
